Camouflage is a robust, database and platform independent, data masking software solution. Because Camouflage is built on open standards, it can run against Oracle, DB2 UDB, Sybase ASE, SQL Server, and various mainframe databases such as VSAM and DB2. Camouflage can be deployed in various UNIX/Linux, Windows, and Mac environments. From architecture through to scalability and functionality, Camouflage is built to address your needs. Some of Camouflage's key features and capabilities include:

Architecture

Built with open standards - Camouflage was built with open standards which allows it to be deployed in just about any environment (Unix/Linux, Windows, and MAC) and can connect to almost any database type (Oracle, DB2, Sybase ASE, SQL Server, and various mainframe systems).
Database Driven Configuration - configuration elements (e.g. tables and fields) are based on the database design and data elements of the database being masked.
Database Level Security - access to the database is based on the security inherent in the database itself, not the Camouflage application. The username and password security mechanism within Camouflage is the same as the database, ensuring that only your top-level DBAs and architects can connect to and mask databases, and avoiding the need for additional security profiles and procedures.
Maintains Relational Integrity - if primary key-foreign key relationships are defined at the database level, Camouflage can automatically update all foreign keys when masking a primary key field. If primary key-foreign key relationships are defined at the application level, related fields can be configured within Camouflage to correctly update associated key fields to maintain relational integrity.
Realistic Looking Data - Camouflage can retrieve source data from the database that is being masked and apply data transformers to mask that data. The result is a database that contains data that "looks" similar to the original data but actually disguises sensitive information.
GUI and Engine Independence - the Camouflage engine can be run independently from the GUI and can be invoked from the Command Line for such things as nightly refreshes.
Data Masking Origin - unlike other products that attempt to mask data but have actually evolved from archiving or subsetting functionality, Camouflage was built from the ground up as a data masking solution. Its sole purpose is to 'de-identify' data held in production databases. As such, it is designed the way a data masking solution should be.

Scalability

Platform and Database Independence - Camouflage is built on open standards and is an enterprise-wide solution. Camouflage can connect to commercial and open source database systems and can be deployed on Unix and Windows platforms.
Robust Data Masking Solution - Camouflage did not evolve from archiving or subsetting; it was built from the ground up for masking large organizational databases with impressive performance benchmarks.
GUI and Engine Independence - the Camouflage engine can be run independently from the GUI and can be invoked from the Command Line for such things as nightly refreshes.
Not limited to Desktop Environment - the engine and GUI are not limited to a desktop environment. They can be installed wherever the best return on investment for the organization can be delivered.

Functionality

Multiple Data Transformers - a variety of transformers have been pre-configured and are delivered with the product to cover a multitude of masking needs.
Robust Scripting Capability - for organization-specific or unique requirements, you can customize or create your own masking functions using the scripting capabilities supported within Camouflage. The number of transformers you can create and use are only limited by the imagination.
Multithreaded Database Updates - at runtime, the database can be updated with multiple threads to improve processing time. The number of threads can be modified to optimize performance in a given environment.
Command Line for Batch Processing - configurations can be integrated with automated database creating scripts. For example, nightly refreshes and masking projects can be configured and run automatically.
Re-useable Project Files - save masking configurations and projects for database refreshes, future projects, creation of similar configurations, and migration of the file between operating systems.
External Data Sources - many database and CSV (text) file connections can be made at once. As such, masking projects can incorporate and involve more than one database type. Furthermore, data can be imported from external data sources to replace the original data, such as sensitive customer lists.
Optional Mapping Tables - secure tables can be generated that store key values of original data along with the masked data to enable mapping back to the original data. Again, this functionality is purely optional.
Filtered Data Masking - mask only a selected subset of the data.
Grouped Data Masking - mask data so that specific groupings and categories are maintained (e.g. gender).
User Friendly Design - comes with an easy to use GUI, copy and paste functions, step-by-step wizard, help system, and PDF user guide.
